Today, I saw a new kid sitting alone during recess, looking a little shy.
I walked over and said, “Hi! Want to play with us?” with a big smile.
At first, they looked unsure, but then their face lit up with a tiny smile.
We played tag and laughed as we ran around the playground together.
I shared my snacks, and they shared their favorite game with me.
By the end of recess, my new friend was smiling wide, and so was I.
Making a new friend smile felt like a warm sunshine on a cloudy day.
I’m happy I reached out because friendship starts with a simple hello.
