The sun is bright in my window. I open my eyes. I look at the clock on my phone. It is 9:00 AM. My work starts at 8:30 AM. Oh no, I am late again!
My heart beats fast. I jump out of bed. My clothes are on the chair. I put on my blue shirt and black pants. I run to the kitchen. I want coffee, but there is no time. I grab my bag and my keys. My cat, Tom, looks at me with big green eyes. He is very quiet.
I run out of the door. I see the bus on the street. "Wait!" I shout. The bus stops for me. I get on. I am breathing hard. I look out the window at the busy city. So many cars, so many people. They all look busy.
I get to my office at 9:30 AM. My boss, Mr. Smith, sees me. He does not look happy. His face is red. "You are late, Anna," he says. His voice is not loud, but it is not nice.
"I am so sorry," I say. I feel very small. I go to my desk. My friend, Maria, gives me a small smile. I sit down and turn on my computer. I work hard all day. I do not take a break. I want to show Mr. Smith that I am a good worker.
At 5:00 PM, I go home. I am very tired. I open my door. Tom the cat runs to me. He is happy to see me. I pick him up. He is warm and soft. I look at my small apartment. Tomorrow, I will wake up early. I promise myself. I will not be late again.
