In every class, I try to be a good listener. When the teacher speaks, I focus. I don’t check my phone or talk to others. I look at the board and take notes. Listening helps me understand better.
Sometimes, the teacher speaks fast or uses words I don’t know. But I don’t panic. I write down the word and ask about it later. Listening carefully also helps me when classmates ask questions or give answers. I learn from them too.
One day, the teacher asked a surprise question. “What’s the past tense of ‘teach’?” Because I was listening, I answered quickly, “Taught!” Everyone turned and smiled at me. I felt proud.
Listening is not just about hearing sounds. It’s about focusing, understanding, and learning. It’s a skill I practice every day. Even outside of class, I try to listen more—to people, podcasts, or even the radio.
Good listening helps me become a better speaker, too. I learn how sentences sound, how words are used, and how to respond naturally.
Now I know—when I listen well, I learn well.
