My neighbor has a small brown dog named Coco. Every evening at 5:30, she takes Coco for a walk. I see her pass my window like clockwork. She always wears a red jacket and carries a little bag of treats. Coco wags his tail and walks proudly beside her. Sometimes, they stop to talk to other dog owners. Other times, they sit on a bench and watch the sun go down. One day, I asked her why she always walks at the same time. She smiled and said, “It’s Coco’s favorite time. And mine too.” She told me that walking helps her relax after work. She doesn’t look at her phone. She just walks, talks to her dog, and enjoys the fresh air. I started going on short walks too, and it really does feel good. Watching her made me realize that small routines like walking a dog can bring calm, joy, and connection to nature—even if only for 20 minutes.
