Pablo the parrot lived in a big, colorful cage near the window, where he could hear everything I said.
One morning, I waved and said, “Good morning, Pablo!”—and he chirped back, “Good morning, Pablo!”
I laughed so hard, and he tilted his head like he was proud of the joke.
All day long, he copied my words—“Snack time!” “Let’s play!” and even “I’m so silly!”
Sometimes he got the words mixed up, which made me giggle even more.
He flapped his wings and bobbed up and down, enjoying every laugh he earned.
By bedtime, we were both tired from talking and laughing so much.
As I turned off the light, Pablo whispered, “Sweet dreams,” and I smiled all the way to sleep.
