Every week in English class, we practice speaking in pairs. We sit facing each other and use simple questions and answers. Sometimes we talk about our weekend. Other times, we practice asking for directions or ordering food.
At first, I was nervous. I didn’t want to make mistakes. But my partner, Jun, always smiled and said, “Don’t worry, just try.” That helped me relax. We listened to each other and corrected small errors. I said, “She go to school,” and he said, “You mean ‘She goes to school.’” I thanked him and remembered it better after that.
Speaking in pairs helps me practice real English. It’s different from just reading or writing. I learn how to speak clearly, listen carefully, and think quickly.
Now, I enjoy these pair activities. I even look forward to them. We change partners every few weeks, so I get to talk with many classmates. Everyone has different accents and speaking styles, which makes it interesting.
Practicing English in pairs gave me more confidence. I’m not afraid to speak now. I know it’s okay to make mistakes. That’s how we learn. And when we laugh or help each other, it becomes fun too.
